Community Energy

We are actively looking for partners to install PV systems. A typical arrangement would be for Sustainable Hockerton to buy the panels and install them on a community/business/individual’s roof. The roof owner would receive cheap energy from the panels as they generate it.

Other ways of working together are also possible. These might be just helping with information and providing guidance or a part ownership scheme where the building owner and Sustainable Hockerton take part shares in the installation costs. We would be very happy to discuss all possibilities. Our aim here is to get as much renewable energy generation installed as possible

In our first 6 years (to March 2016) our renewable energy systems generated 1,818,720 kWh electricity and saved 841000 kg of greenhouse gases. We have a keen interest in expanding this generation. We are also helping local homes and businesses to save energy and money.

Energy efficiency

Sustainable Hockerton has the broad aim to help the parish become sustainable, coupled with the more specific objective of reducing carbon emissions. The cheapest way to do that is to make changes in behaviour or install measures that maintain comfort whilst cutting energy use.
